Live Art by Debbie Baxter at The Brunswick Art Gallery

The Brunswick Art Gallery is thrilled to announce that celebrated ar;st Debbie Baxter will be creating a live painting demonstration in the window of the Gallery for the month of September. The public will be able to admire her incredible work as it comes to life and ask her questions about her style, inspiration, and work ethic. This is part of a new ‘Art Is In the Window’ exhibition at The Brunswick Art Gallery that will run over the coming months.

Debbie studied at the St Albans School of Art and grew up surrounded by the English Countryside. She studied under Daniel Samuels, an international artist who painted exceptional Greek mythological pieces and more recently the artist Christiane Kubrick, widow of film director, Stanley. She has a particular interest in trees and is fascinated by their majesty of shape and design. She lived for eight years in Indonesia where colour is striking and vivid, which taught her to never be afraid of the wide variety of hues nature has to offer.

Visitors to the Gallery will be able purchase Debbie’s art, which is on display in the Gallery, and they will be able to buy a signed copy of her latest book, which is a collection of her incredible work. Debbie also creates tree readings, which is the interpretation of someone’s desired tree, which visitors can arrange with Debbie at the Gallery.

Visitors should explore the Gallery’s incredible mix of art, including sculptures, portraits, photography, pop art, graffiti; art and much more. The Gallery is easy to locate and situated just behind our Waitrose store, off Marchmont street. Debbie Baxter said, “I am so drawn to trees and paint them almost exclusively - I feel an indebtedness to our forests and woodlands and want to share them with audiences. I also feel a strong urge to find a way to reconnect humans back to trees and vice versa. If one painting can help remind us of their beauty, then I feel I am making a difference. The Brunswick Gallery is a beautiful space in Bloomsbury, and I am really excited to be bringing art to life in front of the public, in a very natural way.”

John Themis, Director at The Brunswick Art Gallery says, “This is the first time any of our artists have created art at the Gallery, so it is a big step for us, and we strongly recommend those interested in the creation of art to visit the Gallery and see her in her element. Debbie’s art is incredible - she is an extremely successful and skilled artist and we are thrilled her art is available for purchase in our Gallery.”
